The Town of Cardston is a thriving community of approximately 3,500 people that serves a trading area of 15,000. The town has returned to it's pioneer heritage and has developed several of its historical/tourist facilities to celebrate it's rich background.

Location

The Town of Cardston is located in the Municipal District of Cardston No. 6, in southwest Alberta. It is 77 km southwest of Lethbridge and 234 km south of Calgary.

Water Supply

The source of water is the Lee Creek & Leavitt Irrigation District. The reservoir capacity, measured in treated substance, is 9,000 cubic metres.

Waste Management

Sewage treatment is provided by a rotating biological contactor. Industrial and commercial garbage is collected daily, while residential garbage is collected weekly. There is also a Solid Waste Transfer Station adjacent to the town for the use of Cardston residents.

Air Services

Cardston Airport has all-weather facilities and a 1,064 metre runway. The nearest commercial and air freight services are at Lethbridge.

Highways

The main connecting highways are Highway 2, leading north to Calgary as well as south to the U.S. border, and Highway 5, leading southwest to Waterton Park and northwest to Lethbridge.

Bus Services

The local Handi-Bus is available for those who need assistance in getting around.
